ROBINSON MANEUVER TRAINING CENTER, Ark. – The Army National Guard (ARNG) sent 11 marksmanship teams to Ft. Benning, Ga. to challenge over 37 Active Army and Reserve teams during this years’ 2017 U.S. Army Small Arms (All Army) Championship Mar. 12-18, 2017.
The state teams showcasing their National Guard marksmanship prowess include California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Mississippi, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia. Each team consists of a four-man squad competing with primary and secondary weapon systems.
During this seven-day event, competitors will be problem solving, and critically thinking under the stresses created by competition. They test their combat firing skills competing in one of three classifications: open, novice, and professional.
Stretching themselves, they learn new skills and gain a better understanding of marksmanship. Their ultimate goal: raising the standards of marksmanship and increasing the lethality across the Total Army Force.
